Mix the sugar with the butter cut into smaller pieces, salt, cinnamon, cardamom and egg yolk. Add the flour and knead well with your hands, until the dough looks like bigger crumbs. Add milk and essence. Also now you can add a few drops of food coloring, if you want an even nicer look. The dough is wrapped in a ball, wrapped in cling film, then refrigerated for 30 minutes.

Button formation:

Spread the dough into a thicker sheet and cut round shapes first. In the middle of each is formed by light pressing, a circle with a slightly smaller shape. With the help of a straw, the four holes of the buttons are made.

Place the cookies in a tray lined with baking paper and bake at 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
